Out of Focus

Out of Focus

A Poem by Drea Dawson
"

Spring 2010

"
It makes my shadow blurry
All this pushing and pulling
is making me out of focus
I know you'd say I chose this
but I just chose you

And clearly,
I've overstayed my welcome
cuz I was never given one
according to you
and you spend the rest of your time
reminding me you don't care anymore
and how I missed my chance
according to you

There is no honesty, there is no sense
just parody and tragedy and wet

And every day
I'm one step closer to forgetting
the more bodies I stack up between us
The more hands I hold instead
of your soft hands, I forget
that I just chose you

You look at me now
Like I'm nothing
never was anything
grain of sand at the
bottom of your shoe

What am I supposed to do?
Where colors were once blending
it seems the great ocean is receding
and your world is hidden from my view

I did nothing wrong
meant you no harm
and because I was true
I was hurt by you
and you just walk away
I know you'd say every day
is a fresh start
but you have my heart
I am indeed the fool
cuz I just chose you

There is no honesty, there is no sense
just parody and tragedy and wet
