Just

Just

A Poem by Drea Dawson
"

Summer 2009

"

If you could imagine me
alone in an empty room
with nothing but guitars,
and pianos and
I'm huming this tune

Echoing off these velvet tiles
that line every inch of the floor
You make me a painter
you make me reach deeper
I feel your heartbeat
in the tips of your fingers

You get stuck in my head
like a favorite song I over play
You're the rhythm guitar
to my electric lead
You finish my sound
and you complete me

You say you like it slow
Here it goes,
oh, the sensuality
It dominates me

You've been romancing me
for far too long to be so distant
Just admit it,
Who do you think you're fooling?

I don't know what it is
that makes you run
but I want you to stop
Just stop, for once
