Paramour

Paramour

A Poem by Drea Dawson

You find something in music.
Something rare and respectable,
and yet something so uncommon.
Your body moves,
the way you feel the blues
and it's all depressing,
and so delicious to watch.
You please my lips,
and you appreciate my tongue
the way no one else does.
You make it hard
to not fall in love.
You think you are
the only one surprised?
You think you are alone in your relief?
I had no idea any of this would happen,
but part of me enjoys the release.
You are so familiar,
your fingertips down to your toes
You give a new meaning to feeling
cuz i feel you down in my bones
And oh, the escape:
We both want to run
but find our feet are erased.
You and I are stuck in this place
But at least we aren't alone.
I know you are a rolling stone
that part we have in common
but baby you make me want to go home
and relish in your soft hands
your thin lips
and the way you
understand.
