Aggressive Kind

Aggressive Kind

A Poem by Drea Dawson
"

Fall 2008

"

You have a magnetic intensity
The kind made to unravel me
You have such sweetness
Such aggressive kind

Blonde framing
While your words
Sustaining
Your blue glaciers
Melting in my view

You have the kind of steadiness
Characteristic of a surgeon
You are always precise
And perceptive
Adding to your collection
Of undiscovered prowess

I am fascinated
Undulated
By your touch
It took me by surprise
Now, I revert to sighs
And trying to keep my mouth shut

When you speak
The world turns down the volume
But I turn up the music
This symphony playing in my head

You facinate me purely
I wasn’t prepared for a demigod
I was prepared to be disappointed
But boy, you proved me wrong

Your honest smile,
The one that shows you love life
You smile the way that I laugh
And you give what you get back

You made me want to run
Your passion scared me in such a way
You have the kind of smile
That envelops your prey

You remind me of the beach
Sweet and salty
You breeze through me
And within you
I am weightless
I am breathless
I am full of light

I shelter my memories
I cover my emotions in the sand
Hoping you won’t notice
But wishing you tripped over them

Your skin is just the barrier
What I adore is below
It’s true that you’re easy on the eyes
But baby, I’m attracted to your soul
