My Storm

My Storm

A Poem by Drea Dawson
"

"
Your silence pushes me away
like the ocean started in your eyes
and I'm being pelted by the waves
"Go away" they say

You have always been out of reach
I was always grabbing at you
drowning you with my enamored siege
until eventually, you run from me

God made me a hurricane
without shame,
without fear,
I steer
my storm in your direction

I slap the rain across your face
I ruffle your feathers
and neither of us can tell
if you like it that way

Your silence pushes me away
like the ocean started in your eyes
and I'm being pelted by the waves
"Go away" they say
