Gorgeous

Gorgeous

A Poem by Drea Dawson

You can interrupt me
All you want
Argue my point
Before I make it
You can leave the room
And walk away
But it’s still there
Ambling in your peripheral vision

I think you’re gorgeous
Problem is
You know it
And yeah well,
I’m gorgeous too, but
It doesn’t stop me
From running after you
And I do
Constantly

You can yell for no reason
Assume the worst of me
Air out your insecurities
Like dirty laundry in the wind
But in my car I’ll sit
Waiting for you to finish
So we can go

Why is it so hard to love you?
Do you run us through trials
to test our durability,
or is it simply
That you fight the inevitable that much?
Are we all sport
or do you actually miss us when we’re gone?
Because one day, we will all be gone

Back and forth
Makes my vision blur
Yes and No
your hands say
But your mouth
Usually says
Go away

It’s like you’re too tired for my love
Your head so full
You don’t have room for any more
Your heart so exhausted
No chance I’ll get past the guard
And curl up in there
