DO IT QUICKLY

Christmas time is here again

 I'm not happy where I've been

People rushing to and 'fro

Pasting ribbons for a bow

Wafting music in the air

It IS pretty...I don't care

Friends and family are not near

Most are dead, not even here

*****

I'm a loner I confess

And my life is quite a mess

Merry Christmas can't be found

In my house there is no sound

*****

Take me home Lord...that's my need

Do it quickly with some speed

Please forgive me for this prayer

When I climb those golden stairs

Apparently you didn't get your Christmas wish. You're still here. Good thing that, and your poem. Release of emotion and sharing what we feel is what poetry is about. Christmas seems oddly to enhance feelings such as those described here. Perhaps the perfection built up around the holiday makes our current state seem bleak in comparison. Don't fight those negative feelings; let them be what they are, and they may diminish. Remember, the spirit of Christmas has never been anywhere save within us.
