IF IT WERE NOT TO BE THIS WAY

IF IT WERE NOT TO BE THIS WAY

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Life, memories, hope...or not.

"
If it were not to be this way,
The stars would cease to shine.
'Seems time stands still when you're not here
And life is like a mime.

Remem'bring "how it used to be"
When laughter filled each day,
I scarcely can believe my heart
Each time I kneel to pray.

Where went the days of happiness,
When plans were often made?
They now are hid in loneliness,
Beneath the oak trees' shade.

I've SO much to be grateful for
Yes, this I know 'tis true.
But now your absence takes first place...
I miss the sight of you!

What a sweet and touching remembrance filled with longing and tinged with sadness. I particularly liked the line, "life is like a mime" yes, the movement is still there but the music and song are missing. A very nice poem from you, Miss Sharon. F.

all the things to be grateful for can never replace someone we love who is gone forever.

Thanks so much Jacob for your kind and compassionate review. I appreciate you. ~Sharon
Very good rhyming and a message that affects many here. We know we should let the past go, but like many "shoulds," it's not that easy. Expressing gratitude for what is can help, but some losses remain with us.
