This poem beautifully captures the power of nature to heal and restore us when we are feeling lost, alone, or disconnected from the world around us. The speaker seeks solace in the natural world, finding comfort in the mountains, plains, and hidden paths that Mother Nature provides.
The lines "I hold her close when aspen dance. / I hear her sing through winter nights. / I swim her waters in summer waves / And find her treasures in autumn gold" are particularly evocative, creating a sense of the speaker's deep connection to the rhythms and cycles of the natural world.
The poem also touches on the theme of childhood and the idea that nature can help us to reconnect with the sense of wonder and curiosity that we often lose as we grow older. The line "Where I am permitted to remain a child" highlights the idea that nature provides a space where we can feel free to explore, play, and discover without the pressures and expectations of adult life.
Overall, this is a beautiful and deeply moving poem that speaks to the ways in which nature can help us to find comfort, solace, and a sense of belonging in a world that can often feel overwhelming and isolating.

dearest Sharon... I also find Comfort when the Aspen dance... the Romance of Autumn. I gather Rose tinted Pumpkins around me with Chresanthemums wearing Magenta shades etched in Gold. The Yellow leaves fall in blankets where Rabbits look for Carrots.. waiting for the first Snowfall. gently, Pat
The romantic sentiment of a wonderful, inspiring, caring natural world is a powerful and lasting aspect of a certain world view, although it is one sided, and wishes to see the good and the beautiful in nature. The healing power and soul-cleansing effect of spending time in nature is undeniable, and it is well-expressed in this poem.
Feel complete in her solitude...ah yes how opening ourselves to nature, her many wonderous ways can bring beauty to our hearts, so long as we are willing to remain silent and listen to the words of wisdom she whispers ever so softly to those who chose to listen

Indeed Ken. You are spot on in your interpretation of this write. Thanks for the review. ~Sharon
I love the way to bring mother nature to life, as a being with a soul.... Sometimes we need to heal ourselves from difficulties of life by hugging nature, for her love is unconditional, not like a human....she has a way of giving us hope.... she is someone you CAN fall in love with!!!
Well done Sharon!
Best, B

Thanks so much for your kind review my friend! I appreciate you. ~Sharon
This one is something to keep handy to read when caught in the midst of an interstate backup. The imagery is very soothing, reminding us there is another world outside of urban stress.
she could be a closest friend if only we would treat her as such.
I find such a treasure in Nature myself...walks in the beautiful autumn....around my house the trees turning gold....there is nothing to match. Beautiful imagery in your poem, Sharon,
j.
