A QUIET MIND

A QUIET MIND

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

One's mind is either calm or racing about....

"
A QUIET MIND

A quiet mind with all respect,
Has never been my friend.
I'm always thinking, planning too...
The clamor never ends!

The setting sun marks time for me.
That's when the fun begins!
A word tsunami floods my mind
Like rushing mighty winds.

The pen cannot write fast enough
To keep up with my thoughts.
I run to my computer
So the words can then be caught.

Arthritic fingers can't keep up
And in the light of day,
I see the written words asleep...
They don't know what to say!

I have one of those racing gazelle minds, Sharon. Thoughts always moving at full speed and just dying for a moment to wind down. Much like you wrote, I find the words come like mighty winds as well. Unfortunately life gets so busy that I can't reach the computer in time to capture them and they are lost to the wind forever. A relatable piece for all that engage in this writing craft. I enjoyed your take on it. 💛

What an interesting way to capture ones racing mind. A mind that never stops. Similar to what you wrote, physically writing with a pen doesn't do it for me. I feel as if it takes forever to write something down, my thoughts aren't getting out fast enough. I have a preference to typing just to get my thoughts on to paper much faster. I could very much relate to this piece. A racing, lively mind we all have, an interesting topic for a poem. Loved it!

What a beautiful review Aura! Thanks so much. ~Sharon
love your poem, nice rhyme & rhythm.
i can concur with an unquiet & busy mind, but for me, a tsunami of words happens too infrequently for my liking.

I like the idea of running to the computer to catch the words...they will escape quickly.

I have no quiet mind myself...that is why my sleep patterns are so off.

You have written all of us here, Sharon.

Dear Sharon, if you have a tsunami of words, you are very fortunate. I don't have a quiet mind and I often have a drought of words. At best I get a trickle. Your stanzas flow beautifully and your rhyme is always appreciated my friend.

I certainly wish I could write every night. When I was younger I think I had a lot going on, but time made the words fade. Oh well.
