THE IMPACT OF HIS ABSENCE

THE IMPACT OF HIS ABSENCE

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Longing to see you.

"
THE IMPACT OF HIS ABSENCE

The impact of his absence is
Much deeper so it seems,
Than imprints of his presence in
My thoughts and in my dreams.

He enters by a door that I
So surely thought was locked,
And stirs each image there within
My mind like broken clocks.

How can this be I say to me
How did this all begin?
Can thoughts bestir the memories
Of things held deep within?

When night has come to settle 'round
And fill the heart with fear,
I lay me down and try to sleep
Betrayed....by silent tears.

Your lovely poem throws into doubt that saying about “it’s better to have loved and lost…….” I sometimes wonder whether we’d better off protecting ourselves by maintaining a cold heart but, then, where would the world be if we all did that?

So beautiful yet painful. Memories they haunt us and the demons of our past unleash mostly in the late hours of our loneliness. Nicely done.

Gee
It is every parents worst nightmare to lose a child. Couldn't begin to know how you feel.
This is a beautifully written piece that goes someway to explain the loss and how the memories of him keep this feeling alive.
Good morning.
Hope you are well

This is painfully, painfully beautiful. I'm struck by the image of memories like broken clocks, brief flashes of the things you actually want to remember while the absence looms larger than any one of them. If this is you, I'm sorry that you should have to go through something like this.

Oh dear! I truly hope that this is not You, the first verse was hauntingly impressive to set everything inside my heart and brain. That's what the silence of the night does... it strikes us with even our buried pains, a heart written piece of honest emotions. do take care of yourself there~ here is sending some Love and warm Hugs~

those silent tears can be deafening.
a beautiful but really sad write.
that door to memories of a loved one is never locked...
not even closed, but always ajar.

So very true Jacob. Thank you for reading and commenting my friend. ~Sharon
There is no specified time for grieving. Its length depends on those affected, and some take a lot longer than others. Some find reminiscences triggered by chance encounters, things that suddenly remind them of the departed. It's a process that must be allowed to take its course.

Miss Sharon, this was beautifully written with heart felt sadden emotions!
My Aunt Edna lost her husband to cancer, and then a few years later her daughter died with cancer. She said it was painful to lose her husband, but it was for more painful when she lost her daughter! Again I am sorry for your loss!
