Depression dear Sharon is a curse which holds many in its net. It is a truly awful place to be where dark emotions replace every pin prick of light. It is the invisible illness to many while its sufferers tend to suffer in silence. Thank you for remembering those people.

Have known a fair few that have suffered and it is painful to watch and difficult to understand their suffering. Would be good if it came with warts and boils!

As someone who knows and is, I find this so touching and real. Having said that I echo Stephen Fry. Heightened self-consciousness, apartness, an inability to join in, physical shame and self-loathing—they are not all bad. Those devils have been my angels. Without them I would never have disappeared into language, literature, the mind, Art, laughter and all the mad intensities that made and unmade me.”
