KENOSIS

KENOSIS

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

An early Spring write....a very SHORT prose/poem.

"
KENOSIS

Emptying myself of all that I have become, I stoop to see my reflection wrinkling in the
quiescent creek and in that moment time becomes a weightless metaphor for memories
which vanish as though they never were.

Fingering the smooth, cold stones in silence, I stand gazing at the open expanse of
Horseshoe Meadows and the fifteen million years they have been here before man was
chosen to hold their beauty to heart with reverence and awe.

The longer I gaze at the layers of pastel colors on weekend cocktails in open markets, I
am a child doing cartwheels as passersby remain lodged in smoky mazes of adulthood confusion while failing to observe the lemon sun rising...illuminating bronzed stone and
red slate crags.

No one with vision can help but gasp as rose becomes lilac, becomes buttercup, becomes teal becoming morning in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado!  Here in the ineffable silence of altitude, Mother Nature gently whispers, "Come to me."  And even as She bears Her own weight beneath my feet I am transfixed in the moment where thoughts are unattended and I am better able to cope with life's consummate and bothersome realities.

My love and esteem for these mountains grows deeper and I lose track of time as an amber sun pulls itself beneath Lumpy Ridge with her white-laced peaks and to my surprise I realize....this day has vanished.

(How blessed am I to be able to live in the awesome mountains of Colorado!)

Well, Sharon..Looks like I am your first reviewer for this very interesting poem..
I too find that my poems are not always read..I review quite often..
Perhaps it is because I am new to submitting..or...who knows...
Anyway, I would love to know what type of poetry this is.. I liked it very much..felt like a short story..

Now you know I am going to love this for several reasons. A) it is so visual. b) I too live in the mountains. c) It is so beautifully written. you have outdone John Denver.

I posted this a few days ago but not one person has read it. Perhaps the title, KENOSIS, is scaring them away because they don't know what the heck it means. Oh well....no loss or gain. ~Sharon
