CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE?

CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE?

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

A bit of humor about growing older.

"
CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE?

I'm trying not to panic but
I just have realized...
That life is short...and mine's been long,
And soon I may...demise!

It really isn't funny so
Just put your smirk away.
I'm just to mean to go in peace...
I'll fight for each new day!

Although I move more slowly and
I tend to 'oft forget...
Just why I'm up instead of down,
So I just take a sit.

But looking in the mirror's face,
I see I'm dressed to kill!
My makeup's on...my hair is neat...
I'm headed for a thrill!

I grab my purse, the car keys too,
And sniff the noonday air.
It will be great to have some fun!
But can you tell me.....where?

I'm still laughing after reading this a couple times. Excellent poem. Funny and poignant. I worked in nursing homes for 10 years. I would lead people to the dining room for a bite to eat during their search for what they knew not they searched for. Let me know if you ever need a little reality orientation. I'm an expert and will write you onto the ethereal path of confusion.

dearest Sharon... I have Fun in Thrift Stored, especially Upscale Ones.
Buy old Magazines that take me back to when I was young and Vulnerable.
I bought a Handsome Cane with a rear-view Mirror so I can see who is following me. I bought a Ballerina Doll in quite a dance position ... I collect old Dolls with gorgeous eyes and long eyelashes. Soon I will need a Museum to decorate and place all my Treasures, since all my children have children who have children and there will not be Room to "Will" them out. tenderly, Pat

Gee
This had me smiling. I'm soon to be sixty which in my 21 year old daughters eyes makes me ancient even though she sees me acting like a big kid all of the time.
18 days after my 60th I embark on a 5 day 500 mile bike ride where I intend to make a few of the 36 younger folk EAT MY DUST :))

Haaaa! These humorous verses of yours made me smile hugely dear Sharon. You are so right in your warning-aging is not for sissies! I forget and blunder around more and more these days. Especially when stress is high. Great title, imagery, directness, cadence and rhyme. Superb write.

The other day I was looking for my glasses, had to get to school.

I looked everywhere and started panicking that I had lost them.

They were on my face.
If my head weren't attached, I would lose it.
your poem reminds me of some things I have been thinking nearly every day now...I am definitely not getting youger.

I hear ya my friend! Growing older is not for sissies! ~Sharon
Amen Sharon I hear you there. It definitely is tough growing old. At times I'm angry at myself for not dying young. I hate reading glasses and also the way my knees hurt after walking too long. It really sucks growing old.
