SPENDING MY LIFEA Poem by Miss SharonA nature write stating that this is a great place to spend the rest of my life.SPENDING MY LIFE The eyes are the first thing I see. Just to the left, about a stones-throw distance. They are a pack of five. Taking no notice of my presence they move in unison across the trail directly in front of me...coyote hunting for their lunch. A rocky sky bent path leading to solitude winds a road deep into the Colorado mountains and into my heart. Seeing a bridge thrown across the quickly cascading waterfall, I accept my invitation to adventure and aesthetic pleasures. Jagged peaks frosted by winter's breath snuggle stately Aspen and evergreens as sunlight diamonds dance on Emerald Lake completing the big picture. I am enraptured by the smaller delicacies of blue Columbine, vacationing butterflies, chocolate-vanilla magpies and scuttle-butt chip monks. Pausing for lunch and illegally sharing it with my winged friends, I think perhaps animals like me but people only tolerate me. Savoring the scent of lodge pole pine, suspended in a magic essence and awe, I hear mature spruce whisper..."This is a great place to spend the rest of your life." And I believe them.
