CALLING ALOUD

CALLING ALOUD

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Illness, aging...life.

"
CALLING ALOUD

Illness of body
And sickness of mind
How did it happen
And what did it find?

Strength for tomorrow
Quick dwindles away...
Hopelessness captures
The heart for today.

Dreams from a childhood
Are caught in a cloud...
Thoughts from the dark side
Are calling aloud.
~~~
Lately, I have been feeling this poem, Sharon.
Too many really close friends are very sick, dealing with different cancers.
Folks are gone now...several other friends.
and yet here I am...writing about them, my dreams caught in that cloud.
I remember vividly now...but in twenty years I may not even remember vaguely...what was and might not even know what is.
One of my favorites from you.
' Dreams from a childhood .. Are caught in a cloud... ' Few know what the future holds. Tragically.
Your words, although gently laid.. resound with sadness and methinks, helplessness. And whoever has felt similar, will share and sympathise with you, unconditionally. Hugs for your sadness, hope for you hurt, truly sent. (You)
Dear Sharon, your beautiful lines speak to me of immense suffering. The type that comes through prolonged grief or similar. I pray that it is just a bad day and the morrow will lighten the burden.
Sending you warm wishes from across the pond.
Thank you so much Chris for your beautiful and compassionate response to this write! Sharon
Hi Sharon, it always makes me feel sad when I read that people are having problems. I can relate to this piece, in a way. I have had certain medical problems from my birth. It seems that age does come with its problems. I love the real, the honest content of this powerful write. Have a wonderful Sunday. Hugs....Mike.
Thank you so much you're very kind
Your poem describes how it has felt for me to be disabled for a decade after being an outdoor adventurer all my life. It's been hard to change everything about the way I am & the way I live, but so much insight & strength & healing has come from it. It's always a case of ups & downs, trying to capitalize on the times when I feel decent enuf to get some stuff done. Very poetically stated, not as dreary as it can sometimes feel to be in the day-to-day drudgery of it. But still, very honest & authentic writing (((HUGS)))
Gee
This was my mum at the end of her life, fed up with existing in pain and with illness. Decreased medication that would perhaps have prolonged her life and slipped away on her own terms :(
