GRATUITOUS GRATUITIES

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Traveling at the speed of life!

"
GRATUITOUS GRATUITIES

If only one more day had I
To live before I laid to die,
I'd slow my pace a bit.
There'd be a time to laugh and cry,
But never time to wonder why
It was a sin to sit.

Gratuitous gratuities
And mutual annuities
Are taking up my space.
With every ambiguity
I'm offered no immunity
From reckless speed and haste!

I see the sun now sinking fast
Before my time is here at last,
I roll the weighted dice.
No crystal ball reveals the past
And life's too short to be downcast...
It does not happen twice!
~~~
Hi Sharon, it looks like someone is always rushing. Look how much of life will be missed. It seems like so many people are in a hurry these days, they miss out on the important things of life. Your meaning in this wonderful poem is deep. Another song full of inner meaning. I will always take things at an easy pace. I don't want to miss out on too much. Have a wonderful evening. Hugs always....Mike.
What is this life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare. How I loved that poem as a child and still do. There is a strong message there. Speed can be an enemy. Really enjoyable and meaningful write Sharon. Well done.
Gee
How true the last verse, one day you are a child and then you wake up having raced through 50, 60, 70 years of life.
Not many oh us live a life "fully" methinks.
Got me thinkin' Sharon. Enjoyed the read.
Hope you are well
Ahhhhhhhhh! Thanks so much for your beautiful and kind review my dear. ~Sharon
It reminds me of a psalm that instructs us to "be still". Yes, we're told to accomplish and think it a sin to sit. But being still is good.
Love your interesting rhyme pattern, well-done. I am living most of your prescription, especially the part about not wondering why. It's a waste of old age & many engage in it. Let's seize every moment we've got & (((HUG))) the living daylights out of it! *smile*
Love your review my dear! Thanks so much. ~Sharon
This person needs to slow down before she has a heart attack.... people who rush their lives to get everything done in a hurry really lose out on much of what life has to offer. There is definitely a lesson to be learned here, and I love how your words are so meaningful and clever.
Best, B
You’re very welcome!😊
A lot of insight here, and nicely rhymed. Those who spend their lives dashing hither and thither will one day come to wonder why they have missed so much.
Very wise words to live by Sharon. I feel many fail to understand just how fleeting life is. Everything pases by in a blink of an eye. Thank you for sharing your poem.
