DRINKING SOLITUDEA Poem by Miss SharonRed slate canyon walls and serenity.DRINKING SOLITUDE In late afternoon sun, as the red slate canyon bleeds its last dying shadows, the moon waits to hold an evening song for the stars which point to a midnight sky...standing very still. There is no darkness so black as the thick misty feel of swirling winds held captive inside the massive red rock gorge of Big Thompson Canyon. The haunting cry of prairie coyote is the only sound filling space before tiny night creatures begin their migrations of nocturnal activity, blending in pres- tissimo arpeggios of frenzied jubilation, unsettling the air with liberetto grand crescendos. Making my bed on the cold unforgiving canyon floor, I drink deeply of peaceful solitude while slipping into the comfort of restorative sleep wondering why I have been so blessed and why I would ever need more. <<<<<<<<<<O>>>>>>>>>>
