WOUNDED KNEES

WOUNDED KNEES

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

At this time of celebration and joy there are far too many who kneel to cry.

"
WOUNDED KNEES

It came upon a midnight clear
While footsteps crept the lawn
No mother deer to call the calf
She bore...her newborn fawn

No silent night to softly sing
Of born new kings and peace
No silver bells to peal the night
With sweet soft songs to please

With sirens blaring harm to those
Who walk the streets alone
For those who have no one to care
And aught to call a home

This time was meant for joy to all
And presents 'round the tree
But it's not so for many souls
Who crouch on wounded knees

It does seem strange at times to use words like society and humanity when in any city of the world right now there are so many discarded and ignored by a society that considers itself civil.
I wonder what they think when they are ignored by someone walking their dog with diamanté collar and matching jackets.
Somewhere along the line we got our priorities mixed up.
Let's see if we can do better in 2021.

Gee
Aye, it seems the shepherd is losing more and more of his flock as man becomes increasingly selfish, self centred, and lacking in compassion and love. And it will n doubt grow worse before improving.
Good morning

Sad yet true my friend.
Thank you for your comments. ~Sharon
This is a terrible situation that has continually mushroomed
At one end we have people worth billions of dollars (who in god's name needs that kind of money) purchasing super yachts etc. and at the other these poor souls with not much more than rags
It is a terrible imbalance and Covid has made their plight even worse

So true Dave. There is so much injustice in our world. ~Sharon
