Hit some nerves with your words here Sharon, that more than I will be nodding in agreement with.
The mask of never letting it show is a burden too heavy for prolonged usage, as it requires breathing in deeply and not letting it out until safe in the cocoon of silent walls.
Your words ring so true that it is obvious you have known/seen such people, that think speaking out is a weakness, but it is not. It is what needs to be done for the sufferer to comprehend their own plight truly and underdtand that the world can be too busy and distracted enough to see the signs amongst a constantly rushed life.
It may even surprise them to hear that others too feel choked in a never still world and that moment of finally speaking can be the turning of the valve that releases the feeling of isolation.
Whenever I have found myself struggling, I later reflect on how surprising the direction comforting words can come from, sometimes strangers or hardly known folk, that can say more in one sentence than the months spent trying to find the answers alone.
No one is strong all the time and hopefully, those who need kind words will find that what they perceived as weakness is nothing of the sort. It is but the lack of a voice replying, assuring us that sometimes our mind can consume us.
Who can truly say they have never felt like that?
Such a beautiful thought, that sends compasdion and understanding across the screens of the world, in the hope it will find just one ear to hear words that so need to be heard.
Which makes you special.
There. Job done 😀

Penned beautifully dear Sharon describing the plight of one lonely soul who took her own life because she thought no one cared. Tragic, and there are so many more like her. Just a friendly word, a telephone call might make all the difference.
I've been sitting here for a while now, thinking of something to say. The message is obvious, the delivery is clear and touching. Depression, feeling isolated and alienated are very common. I'd venture to say that it affects everyone to a degree. The poem flows well, I like the balanced structure, and the rhyme scheme that carries the eyes to the painful climax.
A smile of strength while others don't seem to understand. You captured a feeling here. Perhaps screaming madness behind a mask is the only way to birth a poet. You managed to send your voice out and echo in many ears the sound we've come so accustomed to alone. She sat alone with a billion people that sat with her.

Thank you so much for your compassionate and very perceptive review of this write. ~Sharon
Beautiful write dear friend. It's often the case sadly. I lost two relatives the same day. That day happened to be my birthday. But beyond the hurt and pain I realized it was God's love that met them in heaven and it is God's love that has given me strength to keep living. Unfortunately many don't see the beauty this cruel world has to offer. Beautiful write once again.

What a beautifully compassionate review of this write. Thank you so much. ~Sharon
Oh Sharon, this is heartbreaking. How true that some people are severely depressed, but show a mask of happiness to the world. No one realizes how dark the nights are for them. A very close friend of mine committed suicide a few years ago and as I read the emotional lines, I thought of him. This poem really hit me. One of your best. Lydi**

this really got to me...I lost a best friend in 1984 to a fire. She lived in Texas. Our last conversation I remember so well...and we told each other we loved each other to end the call...I am still grateful for that.
Someone must know that he or she is important to at least one person, it really matters.
