NEEDING BACKUPA Poem by Miss SharonNeeding a plan and a friend or two in uncertain times.NEEDING BACKUP A backup plan is what we need When life betrays our trust. The songs we sang in former times Lie strewn and pocked with rust. The ferrier who shoes the horse Lies trampled by the steed... And farmers cannot plow the sod Where all had turned to weeds. Each prairie dog soft-barks the day With tiny hands upraised. And opens eyes to sun and birth Where common things are praised. The backup plan sets well the stage Where darkness turns to light... And needles poised to pierce the skin Have given up their fight. *******************************************
