Should I be forceful with my words,
Please do not be alarmed.
Some words are meant to offer you...
A look behind the 'charm.'
When burdened with a deep despair,
Ones' thoughts are not obliged...
To be what you'd expect of them,
Beneath a smile that hides.
Please be not quick to judge or scoff...
You may not know the pain,
That lives within the heart of one
Whose life has aught to gain.
When dreams are buried 'neath the sod
And hope cannot arise,
Go gentle into that dark night.....
And help the soul that cries.

souls cry....hearts ache....and others judge, not having been in the situation...but those who scoff have no understanding of what is like to be suffering inside...you capture that feeling so well here, Sharon.
Dreams get buried...but with enough self love and confidence we can resurrect them.
really strong write, my friend.

This poem is so full of compassion. I am often guilty of getting impatient with people who don't cheer up. I see your point about understanding their pain and depths of despair. Your words have inspired me to be more thoughtful at times. Beautifully rhymed too.
Yes. it's the words behind the words. The unsaid words speaking Soul to Soul. We need to Listen with different ears and hear the Soul that cries. Well written Poem And deeply heard. please receive my Hug along with Lydia's

As always your rhyme and flow are spot on ... and the pain behind the words delivers quite the message. Yes, there are times people can not expect us to pretend we are okay. There are times when the grief is everything. ~Jim

Thanks so much my friend! Sorry for the late response. I'm not on line so much these days. ~Sharon
Indeed, we never know where the words come from. The pain that some of us hide deep within flows onto the page through our words. We are not here to judge, my friend. I am so pleased you are back here with us again. The pain between the lines of this one touched me. I want to give you a giant hug. Lydi**

What lovely lines Sharon. Be not quick to judge for you do not know of the suffering that soul endures. Flows beautifully. Classical poetry does it for me. All good wishes.
