SULLIED WITH SLUDGE

SULLIED WITH SLUDGE

A Poem by Miss Sharon

SULLIED WITH SLUDGE

He was borne of a woman
In a slow-footed time.
And grew up a man
Who could turn on a dime.

He fought for the truth
And he had no regrets.
He rode his steed hard
And then put him up wet.

He worked at the ranch
And he saw to it too,
That you'd better work
Or you'd not get your due.

He was tougher than nails
But if you only knew,
He was gentle inside...
And he loved his Miss Sue!

Came time for some dancin
And havin some fun,
He cleaned up real nice
And he wore not his gun.

So I guess it would best us
To try not to judge...
If what's on the outside
Is sullied with sludge!
~~~
'So I guess it would best us To try not to judge...'
What a wonderful example of not only a fine tale written in fine meter,.,, but a lesson to be learned that how person looks on the outside is by no mean what he (or she) is inside.. It's the heart that matters every time. Let's hear it for your hero!
As ever, a pleasure, Miss Sharon.
The character study of a cowboy who loved his horse and his woman...with a lesson for us all. No one is exactly as we assume from outward appearances. Great rhyming here, Sharon. Lydi**
