A LITTLE HIT

It started out so innocent,
To calm the nerves a bit.
Everything seemed so wonderful...
With one small "little hit"

Life of the party...that he was!
Nothing could slow him down.
He turned everyone's gloom into
A frown turned upside down.

Before too long that "little hit"
Became his only joy.
He thought about and lived for it...
Like children with their toys.

One lonely night when in despair,
He mixed some pills and drinks.
They found him cold and dead that day...
He crossed addictions' brink.

Addiction is something that cannot be uprooted easily.
