CABIN FEVER

CABIN FEVER

I've been to the cabin
A brief time or two...
Alone as per usual
and never with you.

The cold rushing river
Has stories to tell,
But secrets lie dormant
And wishes don't sell.

The ghost of old mem'ries
Starts up a warm fire,
And cuts out the coupons
To use when I tire.

Belief becomes shackled
To nothing but lies...
My heart becomes muddled
As I start to cry.

The wine has grown cold like
The love we once shared
And I start my journey
Up creaky wood stairs.

I start to lie down on the
Quilt we once made...
And reach for the gun while I
Wish you had stayed.
~~~
Thanks my friend for a very nice review! Your are very much appreciated. ~Sharon
The title gave me chills and I expected something dark. Not disappointed at all, made me feel like wanting to visit the scene and look closer.
Well done.
