THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS

THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS

A Poem by Miss Sharon

Not your "ordinary" Thanksgiving message....

THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS

The day is through and this I know
Yes, everything was perfect...though
Your empty chair was seen.

Your presence felt by day and night
Forever haunts the daunting light
And yet...I know its true.

Each holiday it's just the same
Leftover hopes that never came
Just slip my time away.

I long to see you...hear your voice
And yet I'll never have a choice
Your passing came too soon.

But there will be a day to come
I'll be with you...my only son
Eternity will bloom!
***

Dedicated with love to my only son

Your beautiful and complimentary review has blessed my heart today! Thank you. I do not remember the name of this form but if I find it in all my "stuff" I'll let you know. Thanks for asking. ~Sharon

Gee, I'm going through your list of poems, enjoying each one as much as the last. What form is this, with a rhyming couplet, followed by the third line that doesn't rhyme? I very much like this form, and feel inspired to have a go at one myself.

I'm so sorry about your only son ... and now I'm stuck for what else to say. Thanks for sharing a part of yourself here xoxoxoxo
