WHAT MORE TO DO?

WHAT MORE TO DO?

A Poem by Miss Sharon

What every mother sees when her boy leaves...:
WHAT MORE TO DO?

What more to do...what more to say?
But cry and watch you walk away.
The time has come for you to go...
I've never known such pain you know!

Your uniform so crisp and new
To justly serve red, white and blue.
The pride I feel within my heart
Took notice from the very start...

The day I held you in my arms
And tried to keep you from alarm.
Then up you grew into a man...
So quickly on this mortal sand.

Now off you go to serve our land...
Be ever mindful as you stand.
Salute the flag...she's served us well.
Your oath to her should be upheld.
~~

Dedicated with love to all our brave Veterans.

Having been married to a Sailor in the past, this poem touched my soul and heart. An excellent tribute to our serving military, as well as seeing things from a mother's perspective. Loved it! xoxox

This is a really heart-touching read. I read it from a sister's perspective as I have a little brother and the feelings described here were duly felt. Nice reading it ☺

You are welcome! It was a pleasure :)
A heart rending poem from a loving mother's perspective, and a fine tribute to soldiers past and present who serve their country with pride and valour in hope we shall be free and democracy will preside!

Kudos Sharon !

Thanks so much Tom for your very kind review! ~Sharon
No matter how old they are, they are our babies....and the fact you wrote this makes me tear up, Sharon. We owe so much to the brave men and women who protect and serve our country. Great rhyming and rhythm, but that is no surprise. Lydi**
