TO SHOW OR TELL

With open heart the words lie stilled
Upon an open page
A life that beats the broken heart
Performs upon the stage

The thoughts rehearsed in dark of night
Obliterate the fear
To subtle shape a metered line
In form from tear to tear

Be careful what is shown and told
A secret must be lush
And whispers from a darkened stage
May stalk the scene...to hush

this reminds me of the feeling i have often had of being a poetry bum...just walking down the streets handing out leaflets of poetry...reciting like a New Yorker talking to himself, walking the streets alone...just spouting poetry like a crazy man...

and people actually listening!

Gee
For some poetry is like confession, opening up and exposing themselves to a stranger in the hope that sharing will ease the burden of their load. Nicely written Miss Sharon, such a smooth read.

My pleasure ma'am
Be careful what is shown and told
A secret must be lush
And whispers from a darkened stage
May stalk the scene...to hush

This is wonderful. Such beautiful words

Both I suppose, as poets we like to divulge our secret lives, or reveal some hints anyway. Hopefully, they are lush enough for redeeming exposure. Nicely expressed.

Thank you my dear for a lovely review! ~Sharon
I'm gradually learning that a soft voice encourages the listener to draw closer... if he or she has any heart, that is! The urge to shout out one's wares is sometimes the only way because people are generally rushing through their lives and only have time to scan or .. pause to ignore! Tis sad that today's life prevents sharing, except with a chosen few... but, then, if those few are all they profess to be, they bother.. take interest.. and show their colours.

Such a finely metered poem.. Miss Sharon. Let me know your verdict in time, please. l
