NEEDING BACKUP

NEEDING BACKUP

A Poem by Miss Sharon

A backup plan is what we need...

Healing from what feels like a stabbed heart can be a long and ...
NEEDING BACKUP

A backup plan is what we need
When life betrays our trust.
The songs we sang in younger days
Lie strewn and pocked with rust.

The ferrier who shod the horse
Lies trampled by his steed.
And farmers cannot plow the sod
Where all has turned to reeds.

Each prairie dog soft-barks the day
With tiny hands upraised,
And opens eyes to sun and birth
Where common things are praised.

The backup plan sets well the stage
When darkness turns to light.
And needles poised to pierce the skin
Have all but dimmed the sight.

Yes, we all need a backup plan....something or someone fail-safe that will be there no matter what. Once trust is betrayed, it seems as though we can not depend on anything. We question every concept we once accepted as fact. Your rhyming is, as always, superb. An emotional write.....a touching one. Lydi**

Heh... kinda cute.
backup for the hard times...
like putting away a jar of your favorite happiness for the time when the season ends. if only it'd work that simple...
nice write.

Usually the back-up plans need back ups. I think everyone can relate to this dilemma. The third verse is my favorite, I enjoyed your insight.

Thank you ever so much for a wonderful review of this write! You are appreciated. ~Sharon
How very, very true. There can never be enough back up plans, one for each of life's wretched fears! And of a course, a pen with ever.lasting ink and a heart that's triple wrapped in steel. And.. and.. a good being with a generous heart.
Maybe we're meant to feel what Life throws us just to prove we're alive and kicking; maybe the back up plans need their own support. Who's to know. However, dear Miss Sharon, you've written with superb meter and created a post that stands firmly in the blockade.

Thank you so much. (YOu)
