GIFT ME YOUR HEART

Write me a world where the sky remains cloudless
Sing me a song that needs oft to be sung
Paint me a picture in colors of autumn
Leave me to roam 'neath a lemon-gold sun

Treat me the way that you'd want to be treated
Catch me a star to make every day bright
Whisper the words that hold all our tomorrows
Open my eyes to see every delight

 Kiss me to sleep when my days become dreary
Give me your hand in each season and clime
Hold me close by when the night brings delusion
Gift me your heart with commitment and time

'Hold me close by when the night brings delusion' - that means so much more than seen.

Dear Sharon, this poem is near perfect: the meter is more than fine, the word choice delightful.. but, most of all it would charm a lump of stone - it's so tender and loving. Your final two words - said in that most beautiful of languages, says it all.
