WANT OF THE NEED

With dancing and merriment
Born of the seed,
The victor rides prancing
Through forests of greed.

Sweet blossoms of memory
Quick to be seen,
Now rise to occasion
Of where they have been.

As winter winds blow the last
Breath of the day,
And folds up her skirts to make
Ready her stay,

The prince and the pauper
Exchange golden rings,
Where dreams for tomorrow
Have nothing to bring.

With silence for shelter
And darkness for gain,
The windows have eyes for to
Look 'neath the pain.

Soft breezes part curtains
The lovers to lead,
But flowers shan't bloom
In the want of the need.
~~~
I loved it. there's no forced rhymes, finally poetry that isn't all about rhyming.
" Borne of the seed,
Sweet blossoms of memory'"
I think you meant "born " not "borne " but I might be wrong. lol.
well penned
Loved your wording, the title is poetic. "Soft breezes part curtains," great line! "As winter winds blow the last breath of the day," amazing! Great write!
You're most welcome!
"Want of the need", this is a pretty awesome phrase. A dark poem but it describes the nature of man beautifully.
The picture augments the poem, or is it the other way round?
Nicely done.
