WITH EYES NOT SEEN

WITH EYES NOT SEEN

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Just a tad late, but a Valentine write that was uninvited and unwanted....

"
WITH EYES NOT SEEN

Beneath the ermine winter snow,
There lay a token of love's glow.
A velvet heart...a Valentine,
That spoke the words, "Will you be mine?"

It first appeared to be intact,
But as I picked it up, in fact,
I saw it torn in two...then four.
As if to say, "This love's no more."

I wondered what had gone so wrong,
And why this love brought not a song
Into the heart of its intent...
Where went the joy and merriment?

This life is filled with somber clues,
Revealed and noticed by so few.
A broken heart, with eyes not seen,
Will never beat the same again.

The subtle nuances seen by the eyes of one,not noticed by the other, are sometimes as heartbreaking as the words left unspoken. I like the different take on a valentine .
