THE SHADOW THERE

THE SHADOW THERE

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

A mind playing tricks on its host....

"
THE SHADOW THERE

To show and tell the captive's face
And weave a spell without a trace
Of mystery or fear...
I write this verse in lilac lace
Within the chamber's cold embrace
And raven-salted tears.

This night which casts an amber glow
About the mantle there to show
A presence....ever still!
As winds of winter pierce the flow
Of blood to feel the heart beat slow,
It tastes the bitter pill!

The shadows lengthen much too soon,
And fate bemoans the call of loons,
Before the night is through.
And when her face beholds the moon
And absent suns which seared the room,
The shadow there was.....you!

and that call of the loons sounds so sad....so sad...
a shadow where once was a lover.
