THE THING I WANT MOST

While I am remem'bring the day that we met,
It seems like a lifetime ago love and yet...
We've halved all our sorrows and doubled our joys;
Gave life to sweet blessings...a girl and a boy.

When darkness enshrouded my mind with despair,
You kept our love strong and you always were there.
Those times when an illness stole 'way your sweet wife,
Replacing her words with a message of strife...

You patiently waited for soundness' return
And kept the love glowing in hearts as they burned...
Well into nights when no light could I see,
Your love held me close 'till the darkness would flee.

Although we're alone on the Christmas that's here,
 I'm warmed by rememb'ring each wedded New Year.
I'll tell you my wishes, and what I want too...
The thing I want most for this Christmas is you!
