MY LITTLE LOVELIES

Come here my little lovely ones...
All books of shape and size.
My heart begins to flutter when
I hold you as my prize!

No...never EVER can I have
Too many of your kind.
With covers soft or hardened backs,
You each are SO divine!

From floor to ceiling you are stacked
And to my eyes it seems,
That every nook and cranny stores
Your words...with all my dreams!

When darkness holds the walls in place
And I am fast asleep,
I'm sure I hear you speaking there...
So sweet it makes me weep!

This love we've shared since it was birthed.
Your presence is a must.
Throughout my life you've been the friends
That I can always trust.

I find it almost sacrilege to throw away a book; even a tatty old paperback novel, I always take them to a swap or charity shop.
