CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE?

CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE?

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Ah the joys (?) of getting older!

"
I'm trying not to panic here
But I've just realized,
That life is short...and mine's been long
And soon I may demise!

It really isn't funny now,
So put that smirk away.
I'm just too mean to go in peace...
I'll fight for each new day!

Although I move more slowly now
And tend to 'oft forget...
Just why I'm up instead of down
So I just take a sit.

But looking in the mirror's face
I see I'm dressed to kill.
My makeup's on my hair is neat
I'm headed for a thrill!

I grab my purse, the car keys too
And sniff the midnight air.
It will be great to have some fun!
Can you please tell me......where?
~~

"all dressed up and no place to go" as Meatloaf sang.

i'm ready to go, where are we going?

there is a chuckle here, but also that reminder that as we age, that memory becomes a bit disjointed...and the body and mind move in to a state of demise...

i like your dark sense of humor---or maybe just a positive way at looking what happens to all of us eventually.

I can identify all-too-well with this wonderfully rhymed piece. I get into another room wondering why I went there in the first place time after time. My favorite verse is certainly the third one ("... Although I move more slowly now / And tend to 'oft forget... / Just why I'm up instead of down /So I just take a sit."). Brilliant writing, Sharon.
