HEAVEN ONLY KNOWS

HEAVEN ONLY KNOWS

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

An introspective write about the passing of time.

"

The days and months and years pile up
And scarce can I believe..
Today is mine to contemplate
Those things which I've received.

It seems like only yesterday
That I was just a kid,
But now I see that I am old...
It really can't be hid.

Some things in life came easier
Than others in the fray.
But those I worked for are the best
And they have come to stay.

Relationships and family
Are worth their weight in gold.
Their value can't be measured but
They're mine to have and hold.

If I could play it over now
I wonder if I would.
The pain of loss is bitter...hard,
I'd change that if I could.

But all in all I'm satisfied...
Though life has dealt some blows.
If I could change things, would I?
Well...heaven only knows.

Beautifully expressed. Such an important and profound message.

As I once heard in a song, "It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go..."

Yes indeed Ruby...love the quote which is so true. Thank you for your lovely review! ~Sharon
i really like this poem, and its message.

it is the family and friends that really count...not how much wealth or possessions we accrue...

with age comes that wisdom that you can't take it with you.

nicely expressed, Sharon.
