THE DARKROOM

THE DARKROOM

A Poem by Miss Sharon

Written from a prompt in The Writer's Salon.

THE DARKROOM

Upon the mantel in frozen time,
The photo sits...to seal the crime.
Unbeknownst to all but me,
Oh blot these mem'ries and set me free!

In witness of her plight was I.
No other saw or 'ere passed by.
The camera's eye and shutter drew
Her pain to me...yet no one knew!

Within the darkroom to develop,
My racing heart with fear enveloped.
For printed on the vacant page,
The violence captured...and oh what rage!

With fear I hesitate to tell,
How death was brought...and how she fell.
In horror now the print I see!
The murder wrought was done by......me!

and columbo is looking for you, maam....he knows, he just has to prove it...and he will find what is printed on that vacant page, if anyone can.

pictures can tell a thousand words...and what i see here is the speaker looking at a picture of her and an ex...and the regrets she has because he broke her heart, killed it...but letting herself fall in love with him, that was her part in the murder of the heart. suicide by love.
