CAPTIVE CHILDA Poem by Miss SharonHeld captive by nature's beauty......
The trees harbored sleep in a thin leafless line, And sorrow refused to be fed. As spring began tilling the seeds 'neath the pine, To rouse them from cold winter beds.
When rain began falling on robins and jays And glued their eyes shut from the sun, The ice left from yesterday melted away And caused frozen rivers to run.
The grandeur of mountains still crested with snow Above sweeping hills to the east, Monotonous poverty's chill could not sow Its pallor on man or on beast.
The words hushed their speaking to silence the day, As dawn escaped being the night. Then seasons of birthing pains caught in their play, Held captive their child of delight. ~~~ © 2015 Miss SharonFeatured Review
