FILLING THE SENSES

FILLING THE SENSES

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

The beauty of Mother Earth....

"

Hiking to the rim of dawn, held close within an autumn morning mist,
time becomes an insignificance. I am wrapped in blue cloudless skies
and cradled gently in the arms of Mother Earth, Mother Nature....
Mother to all living things great and small. She seeks me out of hiding,

and calls me to a place where there are no concealing masks worn and
no illusory smiles of indifference. She fills my senses as she silently
waits for my boots to step on the sun above Lumpy Ridge...about a
minute past sorrow. Looking out at the tops of treeless, snow-capped

mountains, I peer through the keyhole of 14,000 foot Longs Peak and step
boldly forth from myself as my spirit becomes fully liberated and free.
This is a place of serenity, purity, solace and peace. This is the threshold
between earth and heaven. A native place beyond the constraints of time.

When I have inhaled all of the beauty any mortal can hold, I begin the
arduous decent....feeling more than disconsolate at having to leave. It is
several hours before I glimpse a slice of the road which enters the pseudo
world of collective unconsciousness. The world of pretense and mendacity.
The world which bounces one-sided coins and declares itself the winner.
