To show and tell the captive's face
And weave a spell without a trace
Of Mystery or fear...
I write this verse in lilac lace
Within the chambers' cold embrace
And raven-salted tears.
This night which casts an amber glow
About the mantle there to show
A presence.....ever still!
As winds of winter pierce the flow
Of blood to feel the heart beat slow,
It tastes the bitter pill!
The shadows lengthen much too soon
And fate bemoans the calls of loon,
Before the night is through.
And when her face beheld the moon
And absent suns which seared the room,
The shadow there.....was you!

I enjoyed the poem. I liked the use of shadows, mystery and fear. I like how you led to the good ending.
"And when her face beheld the moon
And absent suns which seared the room,
The shadow there.....was you!"
Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
