A behind-the-scenes look at living with bi-polar illness. The form used is Abecedarius...each line begins with a letter of the alphabet until all are used.
(Form: Abecedarius)
Although you think you know me well
Because you've read my words,
Come closer to this heart of mine...
Deduce the truth you've heard.
Eclectic message from the dark
Forebodes a somber clue, with
Galaxies of error's plume...
How sorrowful for you.
Instead of sanity and norm,
Judicious rules at play,
Keep altering delusions dream...
Lost captive in the fray.
Meandering through mud and mire,
No truth can be revealed.
On wings of eagles born on high,
Proficient lies concealed.
Quickened flesh no mortal knows will
Reach beyond the wall.
Systematic regimen
To birth those things appalled.
Underneath the captive mind, I'm
Vexed and bound...not free.
Withered there in solitude and
X-rayed by degree.
Yearly cycles bring the plight...but
Zion calms the night.

Wow ! First, let me say how well you have done with the deceptively difficult abecedarian form. Most people make a total muddle of it but you rocked it and rocked it well. As a sufferer of bipolar disorder I see much of myself weaved in and between the lines ... especially " Underneath the captive mind, I'm
Vexed and bound...not free. ". Excellent in both form and content and deserving of a heartfelt "Bravo !". ~Jim

This is a very talented and skillful write! Not only a mastery of Abecedarian, but also powerful iambic lines that add masterfully to the thorough explanation of the disease. Excellent work!

I used to work with the mentally challenged a few years ago, any name you want to give it, it is a heart breaking thing to live with and for families of those having it also suffer. Valentine
