AS THOUGH WE NEVER WERE
A Poem by Miss Sharon
Love gone amiss.
I found the words you meant to say
That wretched day you went away,
And left me stranded in the fray...
As though we never were.
They held me captive in the night
As though our love was never right,
Where eyes were blinded by the sight...
Of yesterday's remorse.
It's only paper torn apart
I told my aching, breaking heart,
I knew it from the very start...
By things you didn't say.
I found the words left hanging there,
With nothing left to hold or share.
Like useless wishes in a prayer...
That deftly leaves a scar.
