They're loose again. Those night rangers
that rescue ones vagrant attention by cracking
the encrustations of sleep from the corners of
vagabond dreams...leaving their footprints in
sharp corners of the star filled night.
By stepping into fields that have no edges
where wildness roams, yellow-brown eyes
pierce the midnight darkness and I feel the
coyotes' breath beneath each footprint, I'm taught
how to smile and given many reasons to do so.
Walking through the sky which blankets the ground,
I'm free to catch a glimpse of natures' private bath...
which always makes me smile and I understand why
I've always preferred the jagged skyline at altitude and
the deep-throated howls of those who play by starlight.
Creatures of the wild do not need to ask themselves
who they are...they've always known and are quite willing
to share their private knowledge with those who care to listen.
I've always listened. It is the listening that holds
my breath and gives it back when truth is known....
and is shown by smiles of gratitude and acceptance.
Wow Miss sharon, you have a nice collection of poetry on WC, you are a seasoned writer, I imagine how this poem expresses the passionate image of bathed in starlight, a beautiful job!

The optimism is what keeps us going. Your point of view is really amazing
Listening to the silence....knowing what it means and drinking it in. A reflective write. Keep listening....you never know when the simple truths of life will hit you. Lydi**

nothing like holding our breath during the midnight hours and just listening...not only to the sounds outside but also those sounds within us.
and we just have to smile.
This is fantastic, I really like the descriptions given in this write, forth stanza says it all.
I enjoyed this so much, I wrote a piece called divine communication, you may enjoy.
Thanks for sharing and b-blessed!
