My soul is down and my heart is torn open

The one I once loved left me for dead.

He has ruined my life and my future.

Why must I pay for his overlooked promises? 

While he is rewarded with new love and glee.

Why can't he be punished for his deeds and crimes.

I am the victim and not the suspect.

Can I really be a suspect?

Was it really me who made me so down?

Did I do nothing to prevent this?

Could I have ended him before he ended me?

Could I have lifted myself and erased the past?

Did I actually let him control my happiness?

Why am I letting this happen to me?

It's my life, not his.

He is in his new love's life, not mine.

I control my life, not him.
