Full Moon Rise

Full Moon Rise

A Poem by OneAmongstMany

Full Moon Rise

I heard there was a full moon rising

So out we went the two of us

To the briar-lined stoney paths

That trip you up as you move in the dusk

Up by the deep mountain lake

There lucid and wild by the marsh

The water has stood the test of time

To complement our holding hands in its glacial art

We are the dream of the city folk

At night lift their eyes to imagined skies

Considering things beyond blankets of smog

Deaf for a second to the traffic screaming by

We’re standing staring upwards, bright-eyed

Bathed in this milky starry night

Barely holograms amidst the gathering dark

And the reeds just tickle our legs

The drive home can wait for now

Just us the lake and the hillside flume

We need never leave this place I say

As the stone you skim sends a ripple through the moon

Enjoyed this too, a well written pladoyer for the countryside, excellently written in finely balanced verses, you should be pleased with this, and many will read it.

Wow, beautiful. I absolutely loved this poem so much. It's so simple and sweet. The thought of two people taking a walk, watching the gorgeous night sky is precious. I could see it all unfolding in my mind. To be so content with someone is a feeling I would love to have. Well done, and thank you for writing this piece.

P.S. This poem made me feel so happy.
