Ravaged

Ravaged

A Poem by OneAmongstMany

Ravaged

Mind weak and heavy

Corrupted and bent by the highs we loathe

But love at the same time

A silhouette of a sane mind

Contrast the light searing the conscience

Burning hot like coal

As they’re taking their toll

Rough edges and bloodied eyes now

Will he ever calm down?

The bliss that follows the break down

Alluring and far

Unlike the veins in his thighs

Bulging through the demise

A genius in his field

But now dead in his eyes

This exeunt is without a reprise

Farewell he says

From a hospital bed

But his mother can’t recognise

The frail creature before her

And though he’s always adored her

Her embrace is as cold as ice

And his tears stain the dress she once liked.

This tells a sad story in a strong way, a good narrative with lots of emotions...fine job.
