And If The Lights DimA Poem by OneAmongstManyAnd If The Lights Dim And if the lights dim Won’t the room grow smaller? Our eyes will dilate Our minds will race We’ll look at each other with new wonder And if the lights dim Won’t times be simpler dear friend? The croon of nightly starling The moon and all its shining Only washing waves we’ll see and hear And if the lights dim Won’t our voices whisper then? Hardly heard against the flames Barely words our intonations I understand you anyway And if the lights dim Won’t the outdoors grow larger? Wilder, all growth in grassy valleys Tireder, all stars bursting bright and far And the breeze through the leaves of the sycamore And if the lights dim Won’t we see each other all the clearer? Dumb enough to fall in love Insane enough to tread the cliff-edge Bowing beneath the waning all. © 2018 OneAmongstManyReviews
