Existing To LiveA Poem by OneAmongstManyExisting To Live This is a place to only exist Great concrete and glass all leering. Hot and sticky, the cracking tarmac Smothers the life which dwelt beneath. Listen to the voices of nameless beings All someone to someone, but not to the masses - A single spark in the collective bonfire. They burn, burn against all before them Spitting and choking and raging on, They stifle the souls of youth and art. The freezing fog descends as always Perhaps this time it will never lift. But look yonder! There, past the snarling tongues and teeth Lies something and someone so pure and sharp Teeming with all that is good and true. Let not that glow be extinguished For from it a new road stretches out Inviting the sons and daughters of virtue To a new place Where that fog is a mere recall of times gone by. © 2017 OneAmongstManyAuthor's Note
