Once Imagined

In a perfect summer once imagined

There we are

Fresh air breezes through the half open window

A violent tangle of hair and laughter

Weaving through the winding road ahead

Rare golden warmth of freezing sands

When we arrive

Gazing out upon the stretching blue expanse

Cascades and crashes of distant whitecaps

Basking in the glow of either summer or ourselves.

Carefree wanderings in the fields of home

We are alive

Dancing through the wild long grass and flowers

Daisies invading such well-worn shoes

Lying on the soft green earth in blissful silence.

Tender, thoughtful moments in hazy evenings

We have each other

Wild eyes of ideas dance and flicker

A dreamed up future of endless summers

We lend our light to the moths and creatures.

Smiles and kisses intertwined

As we wake up

Then morning brings its soft reflections

Fading dreams are lost to time’s advances

Rolling over to the absence which lies beside.

Be it life or fool’s imagination

This was our time

Summer’s end brings sudden chill and feeling

Setting fire to that time once imagined

But the sky is always bright and blue.

Once again, you've written a beautiful piece. It's somehow so serene yet so lively. Truly, your words unfold like a movie. Seeing two characters laugh with each other, embrace each other, be themselves with each other, is plainly breathtaking. I feel I've seen a small glimpse of a romantic relationship. Well done!

There are places and beloved faces that turn reality into a personal Shangri-La where every emotion and experience sends you smiling inside out. Your words are set so beautifully, muscial, elegant, natural and when reading, flowed so easily.. The pending sadness is just about countered by your final line.. A superb piece of writing

I very much enjoyed this. Sort of 'On Golden Pond' goes to the seaside. You have some wonderful descriptions which almost stroke the reader with their gentle warm phrasing. 'Wild eyes of ideas dance and flicker' was probably my favourite image. Nice work!
